The Centre will provide an assistance of Rs 50 crore for the proposed mega food processing park at Kochi and a proposal in this regard had been forwarded to the Planning Commission, Union Food Processing Industries Minister Subodh Kant Sahay said today.

Keeping in view the tardy inflow of FDI in food processing sector, Rs 350 crores in the past two years, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries has taken a slew of promotional measures to attract the entreprenuers and the capital.
The food processing sector in Kerala earned Rs 5,000 crore by way of exports last year, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the exports from the state, the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) said.
