Taking a serious note of the prevailing drought situation, the Kerala Government has deputed a Minister each for 14 districts to supervise and co-ordinate relief, particularly the supply of drinking water, the Assembly was informed on Monday.
erala revenue Minister K P Rajendran told the state assembly on Thursday a sum of Rs 13.6 crore had been sanctioned to tackle the impending drought which was expected to be more severe in the state this year.
A meeting of higher officials, chaired by Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran here on Monday, decided to take immediate steps to combat the impending drought in the State.
